DANCING WITH HEAVEN AND EARTH

Sacred Journey of Initiation - Hawai’ii

There are special places on the Earth where the energies of Heaven and Earth come together with ease and great power. Each year thousands of people from diverse parts of our Earth make pilgrimages to sites of mystery and magnetism. They may not know what draws them to places like Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Mt. Shasta, the pyramids of Giza, the grotto at Lourdes, the city of Lhasa, the temple at Delphi, or Ayers Rock. All they are responding to, consciously or unconsciously, is an inner call to make "The Journey." For a special few, a Divine knowing may be signaling a readiness for an initiation to ignite a shift to a new level, a different road, a higher path on the journey through Life. When the intention is made to undertake a journey of initiation, seen and unseen forces join together, doorways to other dimensions open, and Ancient Ones of Wisdom may stand beckoning to the initiate from a sacred site where Heaven and Earth dance together with ease and Grace. It is at these sacred Earth locations, that an initiate can easily join in this Divine dance, and as a consequence shift the Dance to yet another level.

In Hawai’i, there are many such sites of mystery and power. Sites where doorways to other dimensions are held ajar and the Ones of Ancient Wisdom stand ready to assist the serious initiate. In November, a small group of healers and spiritual seekers will come together on "The Big Island" of Hawai’i to journey together for nine days on the home of Pele-honua-mea, Pele of the sacred earth. The island of Hawai’i is referred to by locals as "the Big Island" because it is the biggest one in the Hawaiian chain, and growing daily courtesy of Pele, Hawaiian Goddess of Volcanoes. Kilauea, Pele’s traditional home, has continuously erupted since 1983, creating over 500 acres of new land during this period. On this island, the power of Creation continuously rumbles beneath your feet and before your eyes.

This is not a path for everyone. Please consider carefully your participation. There is a meditation and energy transmission for Manalani every Monday evening at 10 to 10:30 p.m. Eastern Time. If you feel drawn, tune-in to the energies that are transmitted and ride the flows. Ask your questions and listen to your heart when it speaks.

Itinerary

Day 1: arrive at Kona Airport from home country between 12-4pm. Transportation to Akiko’s Buddhist B&B in Wailea, 15 miles north of Hilo. Accommodations are simple here, straw mat floor coverings, futons to sleep on, shared bathroom. The house is 85 years old, in a small rural village that once was a thriving sugar plantation town on the main road to Hilo. Settle into your room and spend the evening getting to know your new ohana (family) and the nourishing ‘aina (land). Take time to sink into the deep and healing rhythm of this special ‘aina. Take a gentle walk through the lush surrounding valley, with it’s many birds and streams, to Kolekole Park and the Pacific Ocean. Make friends with the Pohaku (special Hawaiian stones) on the grounds. Listen to the wisdom they carry. Do they have a message for your journey? Perhaps Akiko will share her parts of her sacred pilgrimage in Japan, or Chiko will tell you about his own pilgrimage, walking twice around the island last year. There is a zazen meditation this evening at 7 p.m..

Day 2: Lana ka hiamoe (awake from sleep). There is a 5:30 am to 6:00 am morning zazen meditation in the main house. Breakfast, at 7:30 am, is juice and fruit grown on the grounds, homemade bread and preserves, herb tea or Kona coffee. Ono (delicious)! The focus today continues to center around sinking into the healing rhythm of this land and allowing it to gently ease away all that is ready to dissolve. We will head into Hilo this morning, stopping at Akaka Falls and visiting the Farmers’ Market before we drive to Puna for exploration of lava trees, tidal pools, a black sand beach and cleansing in a thermal pond.

Day 3: After zazen meditation at 5:30 am and breakfast at 7:30 am, we will head north today to Waipio Valley, Kohala and Havi. Spirits are quite active in these parts. At the very northern tip of the island, in Havi, there are two heiau (temples) we will visit. One is the birthplace of King Kamehameha, the king who united the Hawaiian Islands and the other, Mookini Heiau, is a spot where many were sacrificed. Together we will use ritual and meditation to offer our gifts and expand our awareness. We will explore these raw energy vortices and ask for the ancient ancestors of the ‘aina for teachings that will support us on our journey.

Day 4 and 5: Zazen meditation at 5:30 am and breakfast at 7:30 am. Bid "Aloha" to Akiko and Chiko as we set out on the next segment of our journey of initiation. We will take an hour drive to yet another dimension, the Volcanoes National Park were we will spend the next two nights, held in the heart of the Hawaiian Goddess of Creation, Pele. We will explore Pele’s great beauty and diversity as we walk through tropical rain forest and recent lava flows; hike over the 2.4 mile crater floor of Kilauea Iki; pay our respects to Pele at Halemaumau Crater with offerings of leis and sacred bundles; enter into what seems like the womb of Pele - a lava tube; journey down the Chain of Craters Road at night to view a lava flow as it slowly makes it’s way to the ocean; and dance under the Milky Way (and perhaps even a night rainbow !) as we dive deeper into the mystery and sacred teachings this island offers in abundance.

Day 6: Hopefully you haven’t completely adjusted to Hawaiian Time (5 hours earlier than Eastern Time) because we will leave our cabins before dawn to once again visit Pele at her home, Halemaumau Crater. Here we will offer her our gratitude for her teachings and guidance during our visit. Perhaps she will even choose to bestow a final blessing of initiation. After breakfast, our first stop on the next segment of our journey is Punaluu Black Sand Beach. Sea turtles can be found resting on shore here or feeding on the reef near shore. We may be able to find the beach where the beach rocks make baby rocks....that’s right, no kidding. Next we journey on toward Kona to Pu’uhonua o Honaunau (Place of Refuge). It is an ancient Hawaiian sanctuary of forgiveness. On this sacred ground an offender of any kapu (taboo) can be forgiven and absolved. Some say that miracles of the heart come easily in this raw energy vortex. There is a special site for meditation near the water. This site appears to be a place of pre-Tahitian influence, where the energies are gentle, inviting, and rich with wisdom. If there is time, we will snorkel at a prime spot next door, "Two Step," before we head to our hotel in Kailua-Kona.

Day 7 and 8: We will join Captains Kevin and Claudia Merrill on two Eco-adventure cruises aboard Nai’a Mana (Dolphin Spirit) to see and learn about pilot whales, spinner dolphins, green sea turtles, manta rays and more. There are no guarantees of ocean encounters with wild dolphins or whales, as we explore their natural playground, but the sea life is always rich, the Kona sun hot and the Pacific cleansing. In addition, you will have the opportunity to snorkel in historic Kealakekua Bay Marine Preserve. When we are not at sea, you will be free to indulge in the highest form of work, pleasure! Now is the time to sit on the beach, swim, watch the sunset, shop, eat a cone of mango sorbet or macadamia coffee crunch at Kona Ice Cream Company.

Day 9 and 10: After breakfast we begin the last segment of our journey as we head north out of Kailua-Kona on our way toward Hilo. We will stop at several special sites along the way to bring a gentle closure to our journey of initiations where we danced with Heaven and Earth in this land of mystery, magic and power, Hawai’i. Our time together ends this afternoon when we arrive at Hilo Airport by 3 p.m., our Spirit nourished and transmuted.

Registration: Call us for cost and schedule for the ten-day intensive  The program fee includes lodging, transportation and admission fees. The price is based on double occupancy. Airfare and meals are not included. The group will be small, therefore, enrollment is limited.
